Job Summary:
Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our legal department! The Intellectual Property Law Assistant/Intern will provide comprehensive support to the IP department, focusing on managing and protecting the company’s intellectual property assets. This role involves assisting with patent filings, trademark registrations, IP portfolio management, and various administrative tasks related to IP matters. This position is open to full time or part time availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain detailed records of the company’s IP assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Assist in conducting IP due diligence and prepare reports on IP assets for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate communication between internal and external teams during legal proceedings.
- Conduct preliminary IP research and assist with analyzing IP-related legal issues.
- Prepare and review IP-related documentation, including licenses, agreements, and internal policies.
- Assist in drafting correspondence and legal documents under the guidance of IP counsel.
- Ensure compliance with IP laws and regulations, including monitoring changes in relevant legislation.
- Prepare reports on IP portfolio status and contribute to strategic planning for IP management.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, conferences, and communications related to IP matters.
- Maintain and organize IP files and databases.
- Provide general administrative support to the IP department as needed.
- Strong understanding of patent and trademark processes.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in IP management software and tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen interest in biotech innovations.
- Adaptability and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- Has background in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, or Computer Science and is is attending law school or newly graduated law student.
- 2+ years of experience in intellectual property law, preferably in a biotech or life sciences environment
- A paralegal certification is a plus.
- Interest in IP and IP litigation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proactive, and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and other relevant software.

Compensation:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $34 - $40 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
