Position Title: Market Development Specialist

Summary/Contribution of Position:

Zymo Research is seeking an experience Market Development Specialist to join our Strategic Product Management team. The qualified individual will play a key role in managing key opinion leaders (KOL) or thought leaders in the field of Bioinformatics and Next Gen-Sequencing (NGS) application solutions to support Zymo Research’s global product strategy. This role will work cross functionally with R&D, product management, marketing and commercial team to identify and engage KOLs; and will also have the responsibility of building and maintaining KOL relationships for the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Identify and develop commercial strategy & product advocacy with bioinformatics key users, core labs and thought leaders in information sciences.
  • Create a road map for thought leader development and management which include categorizations and segmentations based on NGS analytical specialty and/or utility.
  • Work closely with R&D, product management and marketing to create individual thought leader development plans which enhance relationship and advocacy for Zymo Research.
  • Obtain thought leader feedbacks on product performance and identify critical user needs for product enhancements.
  • Plan and coordinate promotional presence and technical presentations at major conferences and symposia.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive metrics plan including thought leader interactions, development and activities.
Market Development Specialist Qualifications:
  • Must have a BA, BS or MS degree in bioinformatics, biology, biostatistics, genetics, or related field.
  • Must have experience and passion in the field of bioinformatics, NGS data analysis and/or information sciences.
  • Experience working in an industry position in a customer facing role such as technical marketing, application support or product advocacy.
  • Demonstrate clear verbal & written communicate skills and well-developed people skills are highly desirable.
  • Preferably have 2-5 years marketing and product managing experience in life sciences, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical industry or closely related fields.
  • Experience in performing NGS, qPCR techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to work across functional groups to drive results.
  • Travel up to 25% of time (post-COVID).
