Marketing Associate - Sample Prep

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Sample Preparation Business Unit. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the commercialization manager, research staff, and marketing core team to drive and develop promotional and technical content for our Sample Preparation products.

The ideal candidate for this position is able to plan, develop, create, and execute marketing campaigns and materials about technical topics related to our Sample Preparation product lines (Sample Collection & RNA Purification). The ideal candidate is also able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team, contribute to discussions and meetings with original ideas, and to communicate effectively with the rest of the team and the upper management. The ideal candidate has scientific knowledge in the field of molecular biology, excellent writing and technical skills, and, ideally, experience in nucleic acid purification, transformation, transfection, cloning, PCR and sequencing.

As a Marketing Associate at Zymo Research you will have the opportunity to work with talented multidisciplinary teams of researchers and marketing staff to develop technical content that will contribute to product and brand awareness, lead acquisition, sales, business development, and product training. You will be deeply involved in the development and execution of marketing campaigns for our Sample Preparation products and encouraged to explore new channels and ideas to increase our market share. This position is a full-time and onsite role. It is based in the Zymo Research Operations location in Tustin, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing Strategy Development: Collaborate with the sample prep business unit and marketing core team to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that leverage both traditional (Print/Tradeshow) and digital channels (SEO, SEM, Email, Social Media) to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to reach target audiences.
  • Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior marketing associates, particularly those without a scientific background, helping them understand and communicate scientific information accurately and effectively.
  • Campaign Management: Oversee and manage marketing campaigns (digital and traditional), including those related to scientific research findings, product launches, and educational initiatives, while maintaining consistent messaging and brand alignment.
  • Content Creation and Optimization: Contribute to content creation efforts, ensuring that assets related to biological sciences are scientifically accurate, engaging, and optimized for SEO.
  • Data Analysis: Regularly analyze marketing campaign performance using analytics tools, focusing on metrics related to scientific content engagement and conversion.
  • SEO and SEM: Monitor and optimize search engine marketing and pay-per-click campaigns, especially those targeting audiences interested in biological sciences.
  • Social Media Management: Assist in the development and execution of social media strategies, emphasizing the dissemination of scientific knowledge and updates.
  • Email Marketing: Collaborate with the team to create and optimize email marketing campaigns focused on delivering scientific insights and news to subscribers.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including scientists, researchers, and content creators, to ensure marketing campaigns align with the latest scientific developments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences/Marketing/Communications or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in digital marketing, with a strong understanding of various digital channels.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, SEO tools, and social media advertising platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to mentor and guide junior team members effectively.
  • Strong scientific background and the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, accessible content.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving industry trends and technologies.

Compensation:

The estimated hourly range for this position is $30 – 34/hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
