About ZR Whole-Blood RNA MiniPrep™

The ZR Whole-Blood RNA MiniPrep™ provides a streamlined method for the rapid isolation of total RNA from whole and partitioned blood. The procedure is based on the use of a unique buffer system with Fast-Spin column technology. The procedure is easy: just add the Blood RNA Buffer to a blood sample or cell pellet (post RBC lysis), filter the mixture, and then purify and concentrate the RNA using the provided column or plate. If required, the RNA can be DNase treated during the purification procedure. RNA can be isolated immediately from fresh samples or at a later time from blood stored (stabilized) in Blood RNA Buffer. This product is designed for the isolation of blood RNA for subsequent RNA-based methods including RT-PCR, hybridization, etc. A diagram of the ZR Whole-Blood RNA MiniPrep™ procedure is illustrated below.

Specifications

Format Spin Column
Processing Time 10 min
Equipment Microcentrifuge
Sample Sources Whole blood (fresh or stored in Blood RNA Buffer™), plasma or serum.
RNA Purity High quality RNA (A260/A280 >1.8, A260/A230 >1.8) suitable for all downstream RNA-based manipulations.
RNA Recovery RNA yields from 200 μl whole-blood are species and sample dependent and averages can range from <1 (e.g., horse) to >20 μg (e.g., mouse) total RNA that is eluted into ≥ 6 μl RNase-free water.
RNA Storage RNA can be stored at ≤-70 ºC. The addition of RNase inhibitors is optional but highly recommended for prolonged storage.
Recommended Sample Volume ≤ 200 μl (up to 1 ml with reloading)
