Job Summary:

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our MiDOG Animal Diagnostics team! In this role, you will play a vital part in the microbiome analysis and improvement of antibiotic resistance understandings, utilizing your skills and expertise in molecular biology, microbiology, microbiology, and statistical analysis. Your efforts will guarantee the delivery of top-notch results for customers passionate about infectious disease testing for all animals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of experiments and computational analyses to advance the MiDOG program, emphasizing microbial genomics, antibiotic resistances, and microbiology.
  • Analyze and interpret results, provide original insights, and strategically plan future project directions.
  • Develop and maintain collaborations with external scientists and key opinion leaders pertinent to ongoing projects.
  • Manage critical aspects of the project lifecycle, from R&D to manufacturing, marketing, commercialization, business development, and networking as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Immunology, Virology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Strong MSc candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Thorough understanding of microbiology, molecular biology, and genomics, including the latest nucleic acid analysis methodologies
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., R, Python, or Linux/UNIX operating systems) for data science (data pre-processing, analyses, and visualization)
  • Expertise in computational methods for NGS data analysis and interpretation (e.g., WGS, read alignment, variant calling)
  • Independent thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work flexibly
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 per year at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
