Services Technician I, Microbiomics

Job Summary:

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Services - Microbiomics team! In this role, you will play a vital part in utilizing your skills and expertise in sample accessioning and nucleic acid extraction. Your contributions will ensure the delivery of high-quality results to a wide range of services customers from academia to industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receiving, accessioning, and storing projects and samples appropriately.
  2. Keeping proper records of accessioned projects and samples.
  3. Communicate with team and customer representatives promptly and effectively when issues arise. Resolve and document any problem specimens.
  4. Coordinate with customers (clinics, hospitals, etc.) for sample submission process.
  5. Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
  6. Stocking of laboratory consumables and routine housekeeping functions.
  7. Preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment
  8. Design and conduct scientific experiments for workflow development, performance troubleshooting, and protocol optimization.
  9. Analyze and interpret data to obtain insights for project progress.
  10. Provide recommendations to the team leader on the next steps of the assigned projects.
  11. Keep current with projects pertaining literature and apply relevant findings to ongoing research projects.
  12. Collaborate with other R&D team members to further multifaceted projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Technical support for incoming customer inquiries.
  2. Work closely with internal subject matter experts, product managers, marketing, and manufacturing microbiomic product and services related technical details.
  3. Project presentation to upper-level management, technical review committee, marketing, and sales organization

Education and Experience:

  • AS or BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field.
  • Experience performing molecular biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid purification and NGS library prep is preferred.
  • A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing, documenting, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to details and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $23 to $25 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
