iGEM Team Research Grant
Enabling Young Scientists to Solve Today's Most Pressing Problems Using Synthetic Biology
Mission Statement
The iGEM Team Research Grant supports the annual iGEM Competition's vision by providing participants with the necessary tools to carry out research using synthetic biology. Zymo Research is committed to training the next generation of scientists, driving scientific discoveries, and translating them into advances in health and sustainability.
Grant Award
We are excited to provide awardees with a $2,000 credit towards our portfolio of innovative technologies for synthetic biology, which includes everything from rapid E. coli transformation and streamlined plasmid purification to efficient RNA and DNA extraction and unbiased NGS library preparation.
Selection Process
The selection process for the iGEM Team Research Grant is designed to identify and support teams that have a creative solution to solving a significant global challenge using synthetic biology. The selection committee seeks teams who propose projects that require multiple molecular biology techniques and preference will be given to proposals that have a well-developed approach and can feasibly be completed prior to the Grand Jamboree. Proposals that align with the mission of the iGEM Competition will be given precedence, particularly those that seek to tackle very significant problems facing society. Eligible projects may cover diverse topics, such as diagnostics, therapeutics, food security, energy, climate change, etc.
